Kingfish on the Kites – Fort Lauderdale Fishing

On Thursday, Tim, his wife and their 5 year old son joined the Lady Pamela fishing fleet for some deep sea action offshore. Trolling gear was in the water once we cleared the Inlet and the fish weren’t hiding. 5-10 lb Kingfish were hitin’ the deck left and right for a good two mile stretch. As soon as we reached our limit on King Mackerel, the kites suspended live goggle eyes and we hoped for a Sailfish bite. Within minutes of live bait kite fishing, I noticed a big bite. “Right long, Right long!” Captain Paul grabbed the rod and set the hook for Tim’s fight. Tim and his son reeled in a hefty 25 lb Kingfish together. The fish was bigger than their son, it was awesome.
