Huge Yellowfin Tuna Off Fort Lauderdale

Big Tuna

Today started out as just another average fishing day for Lady Pamela II sportfishing, as we set out the kites for some sailfishing. We were in 240 feet of water off Ft. Lauderdale and had a couple of frisky googleyes bouncing around on the surface, on light action 30lb outfits. Our anglers were ill-prepared for the freight train that slammed one of the baits and started screaming line off the reel. A single, cruising 130lb yellowfin tuna crashed our sailfish party and had me scrambling to chase the fish before it spooled the reel. Nearly two hours later some extremely happy (and tired!) anglers got the bruiser into the boat. You can clearly see the looks of sheer joy on the faces of not only our anglers, but the captain and mate too! I can’t believe we didn’t break the line off. All I can say is WOW!!
