Ft Lauderdale/Miami Fishing Dolphin – Kingfish – Amberjacks

October 18th, 2008
Richard traveled from Colorado to come fishing aboard the Lady Pamela II in Fort Lauderdale this afternoon. He has a vacation home in San Padre Island, Texas, where he has to run 80 miles to get to fertile grounds to catch fish. He was amazed to see how close we fish offshore here in Ft Lauderdale. We ran out Port Everglades with trolling gear in the water. We were looking for the kings, but the dolphin were biting. We caught two nice size mahi – mahi and a third kept swimming behind the boat. With a live well full of goggle eyes, the kites were up, and the dolphin kept biting. The wind slowly died down, so we ran to a wreck and made a drop with a live speedo. It wasn’t an instant bite down there. It took a while, but finally the rod bent over and we were hooked. Richard reeled in an Amberjack.

Nice catch.
