Lady Pamela II sportfishing had two charters today. I ran our 50 foot Carolina boat on the morning charter off Ft. Lauderdale. We trolled the reef edge with seawitch feathers tipped with bonito strips. We caught a half dozen bonitos and two thirty lb kingfish. We also had about a ten lb mahi-mahi and got it to the back of the boat but we lost it right at the gaff.

In the afternoon we took out Nick and his brother for a six-hour bachelor party fishing trip. We rolled around for a couple of hours and only caught one bonito. The trolling was too slow so we switched tactics and put up the kites. The baits weren’t in the water 10 minutes before a monster sailfish slammed into the bait spread. This fish took a bait and proceeded to jump all over the ocean. Nick had the angling honors and jumped into the fighting chair for about a 25 minute battle. Some great pictures were taken and a tag was put in the fish before it was released. We then decided to try to some wreck fishing. We hit a few nearby wrecks and nailed a couple of amberjacks and a 35 pound Warsaw grouper. It’s funny how a slow fishing day turned into a great trip with four different species caught.
