This afternoon, Bill chartered the Lady Pamela II for a 4-hour private charter and wanted just one nice fish. The King Mackerel bite in Fort Lauderdale has been slow for a majority of February, but the past two days they have been chewing off the back of the boat. We trolled to the south because the bite was solid for a short amount of time, and that was about it, a short amount of time. The King Mackerel showed zero interested in our bait, except for two stragglers we landed after 30 minutes of trolling. Two Kings were enough; we gave up and moved on to 350 ft of water. It was not long before our King Mackerel went down whole to attract another species. One hour passed before the ballon went under, in other words, we got the bite! I set the hook as Bill got situated in the chair, then the battle began. The outcome was a brutal fight with a big Hammerhead Shark.
Tight Lines!
