Fort Lauderdale Sailfish Bite – January

Chris and Russ from Illinois joined the Lady Pamela Sportfishing Fleet for some deep sea fishing offshore in Fort Lauderdale on January 2nd. Fishing did a 360 after the cold front pushed through and Chris and Russ went home happy campers. We picked up a dozen goggle eyes before we left Lauderdale Marina and headed offshore to live bait kite fishing. Within the first 20 minutes of fishing, a 20 lb Mahi Mahi ate, started it’s series up jumps and pulled the hook. Our second bite of the day was even better because we actually got up close and personal with a 71” Atlantic Sailfish. It put up one helluva fight and we released it for a future fight. Captain Paul tagged the fish so when he’s caught again Chris and Russ will get a report back of where the fish was caught and how much it grew. Cool, huh.
