Dolphin Fishing

July 14, 2015
There was mahi-mahi mayhem offshore Ft. Lauderdale today as the Lady Pamela sportfishing boats were busy reeling in everything from 25 lb gaffers to little schoolies. Captain JJ ventured offshore into about 800 feet of water where big rafts of Sargassum were teeming with baitfish and mahi. The ocean was calm and clear which made for some exciting site fishing around the rafts of seaweed. There is nothing to get the blood rushing like the sight of a school of mahi, with their flashing blues and greens, come screaming onto a bait you’ve just pitched into the water!

Captain Adam stayed closer to shore and had similar success with the mahi in about 200 feet of water. He had to troll his fish up along a current rip just offshore though, as the Sargassum weed was much more spread out. The two Lady Pamela boats combined had nearly 50 hookups and brought in 20 nice fish during the course of the day.
