Fishing has been keeping the Lady Pamela Fishing Fleet very busy here in Fort Lauderdale. Yesterday we had three trips, a morning trip, an afternoon trip and a nighttime tarpon charter.
Our morning trip aboard the Lady Pamela II started great, catching smaller baitfish like Bluerunners and Rainbow Runners. After everyone on board caught some baitfish, I led the Lady Pamela II to an edge in 150 ft of water with a smokin’ north current. We trolled the edge for 7 miles catching loads on King Mackerel and Bonito fish. After two hours of non-stop action on the troll, we headed to 180 ft of water and flew live bait from the kites. The bite was almost instant but the fish managed to pull the hook and release itself. I knew the fish would come back around, which he did and Hunter did a great job reeling in his 50″ Barracuda.

Trolling was attracting fish in the afternoon, but for some reason they weren’t hooking themselves. Finally, after a million teases, Mike hooked a 30″ Bull King and then the Kingfish and Bonito fish started pouring in.

Tarpon fishing in Fort Lauderdale is some of the best tarpon fishing in the world. Our morning trip with Hunter had such a good time they chartered the boat for the nighttime fishing as well. We left Lauderdale Marina around 6 PM and lost a 60lb Tarpon by 7 PM. Within 10 minutes of our Tarpon loss, we hooked a huge Nurse Shark. During the last hour of the trip we caught and expertly released a 28″ Snook, jumped off another Tarpon and caught a Barracuda. I’d say Hunter had a great day of fishing in Fort Lauderdale.

Today was a great day on the water; my best friend Matt filled in and fished with me aboard the Lady Pamela II for both our morning and afternoon trip. We go way back, from fishing in the New River here in Downtown Fort Lauderdale when we were little guys. Matt is a Miami Fire Fighter who tries to fill in fishing as much as he can. We had a few young kids on the boat today so I decided to head out Port Everglades, get them familiar with the tackle, and catch some bait at the same time. With our baitfish in the well, we trolled to the south where fishing was very slow. The current was MIA and so were the fish, besides for one straggler King Mackerel. We made a move 18 miles away and with a big bonito bait we dropped it down in 50 ft of water and got the bite immediately. Jeff jumped into the fighting chair with no hesitation and put his game face on. He won the fight against a monster Barracuda. Our afternoon trip ended up being very similar, slow fishing to start then a whopper fish to end the trip.

The Lady Pamela III had a great afternoon trip. Repeat customers of ours, Dustin and Patrick went home very happy as always. They caught a 60lb Tarpon and a big Barracuda while fishing in Fort Lauderdale.

Today Captain Paul and Mike had a banner July fishing day. During their morning trip, the fish were snapping on the troll anywhere from 100 - 230 ft of water. With just a light SE wind and a rippin north current they caught 7 King Mackerel, 7 Bonito fish, 3 Blackfin Tuna and a summertime Sailfish.

Drift Fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Today we had 11 anglers aboard the Lady Pamela III for our All Day Dolphin Thursday fishing trip. At 8 AM sharp, we left the dock and headed offshore with our trolling gear ready to go. We trolled for hours in anywhere from 90 - 150 ft of water using planners and sea witches, catching loads of Mahi - Mahi, King Mackerel, Bonito fish and nice football size Blackfin Tuna. Right around noon, we threw a 20 lb Wahoo in the box after an angler won a sweaty battle. On the way home we made a few pit stops at the local shipwrecks and caught two smaller size Barracudas, about 20″ long.

Sport Fishing Report - Fort Lauderdale, Florida
July 6th, 2010
This afternoon, the Lady Pamela II left the dock for a 1 PM start. For the first two hours of fishing, we trolled around offshore looking for some fish. The customers got sea sick so we headed inshore but didn’t want to cut them short of fishing. On our way in, we tried a spot that locals refer to as the ledge. We dropped two big bluerunner baits down and it didn’t take long to attract a visitor. A big Bull Shark rolled on our bait and Mike set the hook to get him on there. We fought the Bull Shark for 30 minutes and cured all sea sickness!

Drift Fishing Report - Fort Lauderdale, Florida

July 1st, 2010
This morning the drift fishing boat headed offshore Fort Lauderdale with 11 people for a 4 hour drift fishing trip. The bite was not instant but within the first hour the fish started pouring in the boat. The King Mackerel fish biting nicely along with the Bonito fish, Trigger fish, a few Grunts and some Grouper fish. The Fort Lauderdale drift fishing bite is starting to pick up!
Don’t get left at the dock, call today to schedule a fishing trip aboard the Lady Pamela III.

Tonight we had our Friday night four hour drift fishing trip in Fort Lauderdale. We anchored in 65 ft just south of the pier before the rippin current caused us to move. We ran and to 35 ft of water just north of the pier and it didn’t take long before the fish were coming in the Lady Pamela III. Fresh Bonito and Squid bait were attracting the Mangrove Snappers in phenomenal numbers. We headed back to the dock with a total catch of 30 Mangrove Snappers, 2 Mutton Snappers and 4 Yellow Tail Snappers.
